Bridgeport Assembly of God
Was founded in 1954 and has been a life-giving witness for Christ in Lawrence county and beyond for many years. Our recently remodeled campus on the corner of Jefferson and Third streets are beautiful buildings inside and out. Both buildings are handicapped accessible and comfortable. We know that the church is not about the buildings but it is about the people. We want to live out Jesus’ instructions in:
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.
Pastors Bob & Rhonda Thomas
In 2016 God called the Thomas’ to Bridgeport Assembly of God to share God’s Word and show God’s love in this community. A guiding verse for the Thomas’ ministry has always been.
…to equip his people for works of service, so that the body of Christ may be built up until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining to the whole measure of the fullness of Christ.
The Thomas’ have two adult children; Bethany and Bobby. They also hang out with a very stubborn Beagle named “Woosha”, (this is the Amharic word for “dog”.) Amharic is one of the many languages spoken in the nation of Ethiopia, where the Thomas’ served as Missionaries for several years.
Bob and Rhonda both grew up near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and are avid sports fans. They enjoy rooting for the “Black & Gold” from Pittsburgh. but they also love to support the local teams and athletes from Lawrence county.
Like the Church we lead our mission is to Love God and Love People. Connecting with our community is our focus and if we have not already met you we would love it if you would introduce yourself to us either at Bridgeport Assembly of God, in a local restaurant or at one of the community events in our area.
